Bawlmerese…
It is said that he life of a Baltimore Army Lietenat may have been saved by Bawlmerese during the Battle of the Bulge in World War II. He was suspected of being a Nazi spy in American uniform by the Military Police, as there were many such spies. However, another military policeman, himself from Bawlmer, heard the suspect pronounce his hometown as “Bawlmer”. Knowing that only a native pronounces it as such, he was FREE to GO!
